Gamma in 2026: a first draft that looks good fast
Most people use Gamma to get past the blank page. They paste in an outline, notes or a document and get back a deck, a one-pager or a simple web page that already looks designed. Sales pitches, class presentations, internal updates and client proposals account for most of it. The draft is rarely the final version, but it gets you most of the way in minutes.
More and more, Gamma is also where people make the visuals around a deck: charts, social graphics and marketing material. If you just want tidy slides and already know PowerPoint well, you are paying for convenience you may not need.
What changed, month by month
March 2026: Gamma launched Gamma Imagine, which makes on-brand images, charts, infographics and social graphics from a prompt. This puts it in more direct competition with Canva and Adobe.
May 2026: Six-column layouts arrived. PowerPoint exports now carry custom fonts, and the connectors for Claude and ChatGPT got better at following instructions.
June 2026: You can now edit on the mobile web, and exports to PPTX, PDF and Google Slides were fixed and improved.
August 2026: Native iOS and Android apps shipped, along with a Slack integration and live chart syncing from Google Sheets.
September 2026: Presentations.AI started pitching itself openly as the Gamma alternative, with free tools that turn PDFs, Word files and spreadsheets into decks. The low end of this market is getting crowded.
Shared plan or your own account?
A shared plan suits someone who makes a few decks a month, keeps nothing confidential in them and can live with occasional friction. For a student or a freelancer testing the tool, it is a cheap way to find out whether Gamma fits how they work.
Gamma's terms say you may not share your account or password. A shared plan can therefore conflict with those terms, and if Gamma acts on the account, you could lose access along with every deck stored in it. Your work is also visible to the other people on the login, and everyone uses up the same credits.
