Short answer
If you're missing the quiz card, it's probably not a bug. Spotify's expansion is limited and is rolling out in stages. On October 6, 2026, Spotify expanded Music Quiz to more than 2,000 artists. You only get it if you're on Premium, you're 18 or older, and you're in one of 11 markets. Spotify also says the rollout is gradual, so the quiz may not appear for every artist or every listener straight away. Update the app, play a song by an artist who has a quiz, and look for the Music Quiz card in the Now Playing view.Source: Put Your Music Knowledge to the Test With Spotify's Music Quiz – Spotify Newsroom (Oct 6, 2026) · 2026-10-07
What changed on October 6
Music Quiz first appeared in March 2026 as a one-artist promotion. It was a BTS quiz tied to the release of the album ARIRANG. In its October 6 newsroom post, Spotify says quizzes now cover more than 2,000 artists. They include music trivia, guessing albums from their artwork and identifying audio previews, with questions about each artist's catalog, career milestones and defining moments.

No card? Try this before blaming the app
Play a different, bigger artist. If you see a card there but not for your favourite niche artist, it's a coverage issue, not a bug. If you've updated, you're in an eligible market on Premium and you see no card for any artist, the most likely reason is the gradual rollout. Spotify hasn't offered a way to opt in early.

Why this matters: Music Quiz is a feature Spotify offers, not something your Premium plan guarantees. Under its terms, Spotify can change or remove parts of the service. A missing card is not a broken subscription, and the feature could change after launch.

The take: a bigger quiz that fewer people can play
Here's the odd part. The March BTS quiz was available to Premium listeners worldwide in six languages: English, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. The October expansion adds 2,000+ artists but limits play to 11 markets and English only. Fans in Brazil, Mexico, Japan or Korea could take the BTS quiz in their own language in March, yet they're left out of the bigger launch. Spotify says more artists, languages and markets are coming. For now, though, the bigger launch reaches fewer countries and fewer languages.
Is putting trivia behind Premium a bit much? Honestly, yes. A quiz costs Spotify almost nothing to serve, and it's exactly the kind of fun extra that could win over free listeners. Making it Premium-only turns a fan game into another line on the upgrade pitch. It's also another card fighting for space in a Now Playing screen that's already crowded.
I'll still defend it: Music Quiz is underrated as a way back into an artist's catalog. Album-art and audio-clip questions push you toward deep cuts in a way the algorithm rarely does. It's better than another auto-generated mix, but only if Spotify actually rolls it out widely.
Who's affected right now: adult Premium subscribers in the 11 listed markets, for artists who have quizzes. Everyone else, including free users, under-18s, listeners outside those countries and people who want a non-English quiz, has to wait for the further rollout Spotify says is coming. Spotify hasn't announced a date for that.
