Short answer
CLOSER is a new Spotify video series about Korean artists. You watch it in the official CLOSER playlist inside Spotify.Spotify announced CLOSER on October 16, 2026. Each episode pairs a live performance in a small venue with a sit-down conversation. Hearts2Hearts is the first artist. Their release has the first-ever live performances of "ICONIC HEART (Korean Version)" and "Baby Steps," an acoustic "Butterflies," and a talk session recorded at the event. Spotify says ALLDAY PROJECT, LNGSHOT and other artists are coming next. It hasn't said whether you need Premium, and it hasn't published a release schedule.Source: Spotify For the Record: CLOSER video performances (K-pop) · 2026-10-21
What Spotify actually launched
Spotify's newsroom describes CLOSER as a series about Korean artists who are "making a splash." Its stated goal is to give fans a K-music showcase they can watch without leaving Spotify. The format is the same each time: the artist plays a short live set for a small audience, then talks about their music, their creative world and their life away from the stage. The Hearts2Hearts footage was filmed at the group's Spotify CLOSER show in Seoul.

The Seoul show was announced weeks before the videos came out. Sports Kyunghyang reported in September that Spotify Korea would hold the first CLOSER show on October 2 at Myeonghwa Live Hall. The report said the program would include live performances, a candid talk with the members and a space themed on the group's world, and that a video podcast with the footage would be released on Spotify afterward. It quoted Junhyeok Han, Head of Music at Spotify Korea, saying the initiative is meant to help listeners discover artists who are set to grow.

Why Hearts2Hearts goes first
Spotify's own numbers explain the pick. According to the newsroom post, Hearts2Hearts debuted in February 2025, and its monthly Spotify streams have grown nearly 20 times since then. The group has more than 530 million streams this year, and its biggest track, "RUDE!", has passed 180 million. The Korea Times reported the same milestones on October 16. It describes the eight-member group (Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha, Stella, Juun, A-na, Ian and Ye-on) as the first act in a series spotlighting emerging Korean artists.

Who this affects
This matters mainly to K-pop fans who already use Spotify. You don't need to change your plan or buy anything. Spotify's announcement doesn't mention Premium, regional availability or an end date, so we can't promise how the videos will look on your account or in your country. If you can't see the videos, check that you're in the official CLOSER playlist and that your app is up to date.

Our take: a good idea, buried in the wrong place
In fairness, this is a smart move. Live K-pop content usually lives on YouTube, where Spotify gets nothing from it. Fans want exactly this kind of footage: a small venue, first-ever live versions and a talk where the members aren't reading a script. Spotify putting it next to the songs is a direct challenge to YouTube for the fan's attention. Picking a fast-rising group instead of a stadium act is also the right call. It looks like discovery, not a celebrity cameo.
The annoying part is packaging. Putting a video series inside a playlist is the most Spotify thing possible, and that's not a compliment. Playlists are for songs. A show needs an episode list, release dates and a clear sign of what's new. Spotify gave none of those: no schedule, nothing on Premium, nothing on regions. That leaves fans checking a playlist and hoping. YouTube's live-session channels are still easier to browse. Spotify's advantage is that the videos sit next to the streams that actually help the artist. If the next CLOSER episodes are as strong as the Hearts2Hearts set, the format will win fans over. The packaging won't.

Spotify Terms of Use (last updated September 4, 2026)Source: Spotify Terms of Use · 2026-10-21
Why the terms matter here: Spotify's terms also say it has no obligation to provide any specific content and may remove videos without notice. In practice, the CLOSER videos you can watch today aren't guaranteed to stay up or to look the same everywhere. If you want to keep up with the series, follow the official playlist rather than relying on reposted copies.
