Short answer
Turn it on for passes. Think hard before you let it near your bank transactions.Google is gradually rolling out a Google Wallet connected app in Gemini. It's for adults 18 and older in the US who use a personal Google Account. Gemini can pull up loyalty cards, event tickets and boarding passes. It can also summarize spending and give budgeting tips based on transactions from accounts you've linked to Wallet through services like Plaid. It can't make payments, and it can't change or delete your linked accounts. The catch: Google says it only connects when Keep Activity is on.Source: Get info & personalized insights from Google Wallet with Gemini Apps (Google Help) · 2026-10-05; 9to5Google: Google Wallet Gemini app · 2026-10-05
What actually shipped
9to5Google reported the launch on September 28, 2026. Google's help page describes three jobs: getting info from passes like loyalty cards, event tickets and boarding passes; summarizing expense activity and giving budgeting tips from transaction data in linked financial accounts; and checking and summarizing the rewards and special offers on your cards and passes. 9to5Google's example is the kind of question people actually ask, along the lines of how much you spent on groceries last month.

The limits matter too. According to Google, the feature is English-only. It works in the Gemini mobile app and at gemini.google.com, but not in Gems or Gemini Live. Work and school accounts aren't supported. Because the rollout is gradual, it may not show up in your account yet.

Spending insights need Plaid-linked accounts
Gemini only sees spending from financial accounts you've already linked to Google Wallet through services like Plaid. If you never linked a bank account to Wallet, you mostly get the passes and rewards side. Google's help page says you can unlink those accounts at any time in Google Wallet settings.

How to turn it on, and off

- Find Connected AppsAndroid Police says the toggle is under Settings > Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps. 9to5Google points to the Connected Apps list at gemini.google.com/apps.
- Or just askAccording to Google, you can connect Wallet by mentioning Google Wallet in a request or by typing @Google Wallet in the prompt box.
- Check Keep ActivityGoogle says Gemini can't connect to Google Wallet while Keep Activity is off.
- Disconnect when you wantYou can disconnect Wallet in Connected Apps settings at any time. Android Police warns that unlinking doesn't automatically remove transaction information that was already saved, so you'll need to delete it yourself.

Why that one sentence matters
Google's Gemini Apps Privacy Hub explains what Keep Activity does. With it on, your activity is used to provide, develop and improve Google's services, including training generative AI models. Google also says some chats are read by human reviewers, including trained service providers. With Keep Activity off, Google says it doesn't use your future chats to improve its models unless you send feedback. Those chats stay with your account for 72 hours. The hub also tells users not to enter confidential information they wouldn't want a reviewer to see.

So the trade is plain. To ask Gemini about your grocery spending, you have to keep the setting on that lets Google use your chats to improve its services, and a subset of chats may be read by people. Google doesn't say whether your Wallet data specifically ends up in front of reviewers. But the questions you type, like 'why did I spend so much on takeout,' are chats like any other.

Our take: the best Personal Intelligence feature, and the one to think hardest about
Credit where it's due: this is the most useful 'personal intelligence' feature Gemini has shipped. Most connected-app demos fix problems nobody has. 'How much did I spend on groceries last month?' is a question real people ask, and usually answer by squinting at a bank app with search features from 2009. Pulling up a boarding pass in a chat window you already have open is small, but it's real convenience. The read-only design is also the right call. An AI that can see your money but can't move it is the only kind anyone should trust right now.
What annoys us is the bundling. Google makes you keep Keep Activity on, the same switch tied to model training and human review, before your bank transactions can come into the conversation. Wallet is exactly where many careful users would have turned it off. Asking an AI about your finances doesn't have to mean donating your financial chats to product improvement, and Google forces the two together. The unlinking catch Android Police flagged, where saved transaction info stays until you delete it, makes 'just try it and disconnect later' less clean than it sounds.
Before you link your bank data
- Passes and tickets only? Turn it on. Leave Plaid out of Wallet if you don't need spending insights.
- Can you live with Keep Activity on and some chats possibly read by human reviewers?
- Use a personal US Google Account (age 18+). Work and school accounts won't work.
- Know how to exit: disconnect in Connected Apps, unlink Plaid accounts in Wallet settings, and manually delete saved transaction info.
- Treat budgeting tips as a summary, not financial advice. Check the numbers against your bank.

Verdict: say yes to the passes and maybe to the spending, but decide on purpose. If you already use Gemini with Keep Activity on, you've accepted most of the trade, and the Wallet app is a real upgrade. If you switched Keep Activity off for privacy reasons, this feature isn't worth switching it back on for. A plain budgeting app can tell you what you spent on groceries without sending those chats into model improvement.
