Following a team you don't live near, plus the minors and the radio
MLB TV is an out-of-market product, and it helps to be blunt about that. Most people who pay for it are fans who live far from their team, like a Cardinals fan in Denver or a Mariners fan in Boston, and want every pitch that local TV ignores. They also use the extras more than they expect to: home and away radio for every club, live minor league games, MLB Network around the clock, the Big Inning look-in show and the replay archive.
It will not show your local team. Blackouts still follow local TV contracts, and national exclusive games stay off it. Plenty of buyers only learn this on opening night.
What changed this year
November 2025: ESPN took over MLB TV under a deal that runs from 2026 to 2028. New US subscribers now buy it through ESPN, and games play in both the ESPN and MLB apps.
February 2026: Main Street Sports missed rights payments, and six clubs (the Reds, Royals, Marlins, Brewers, Cardinals and Rays) moved their local broadcasts to MLB. That brought the number of teams with league-produced broadcasts to at least 13. Watching those teams at home still takes a separate in-market subscription. MLB TV does not cover it.
May 2026: the labor deal expires on December 1, 2026. A lockout is widely expected, and this time it could cancel regular-season games in 2027.
August 2026: the postseason schedule confirmed that October belongs to NBC and Peacock, TBS and Fox. September 2026: MLB cut the seasonal package to a late-season low, with barely a month of games left.
Who a shared plan suits, and who should pay MLB directly
A shared seat makes sense for casual viewers: people who dip into a few games, catch up on replays, or mostly want radio and minor league games. If a stream sometimes drops or asks you to log in again, you can live with it.
Pay MLB directly if you watch almost every night, need more than one screen at home, or would be furious to lose access in the middle of a pennant race. Be clear about the risk. MLB's terms of use prohibit sharing a login, so a shared plan can conflict with them. The account can be logged out, flagged or suspended, and you have no customer relationship with MLB to fall back on. We do not recommend breaking those terms. Read them and decide.
Before you buy
Look up your ZIP code in MLB's blackout lookup. If your team counts as local, MLB TV will not show its games.
Check which dates the plan covers. The regular season is over, so buying now mostly gets you the archive and the offseason, and 2027 could start late or be cut short.
Ask which app and login you will use (the ESPN app or the MLB app) and how many screens can stream at the same time.
Get the seller's replacement or refund policy in writing before you pay, in case your access is cut off.

How we read these
Every figure here is read from the seller's own page when the site is built, and stamped with the date it was read. Nothing is estimated and nothing is carried over from yesterday. When a price cannot be read, the row says so instead of showing a zero.
