What it is

Meshy is an AI-powered 3D model generation and editing platform that allows users to quickly create high-quality 3D models from text descriptions or image uploads for game development, animation, and 3D design.

In 2026, Meshy is a first-draft machine and not a replacement for a 3D artist. Indie and solo game developers use it to fill prototype levels with props they could never pay a modeler for. Artists pull its meshes into Blender or ZBrush and fix them there. A fast-growing group of hobbyists turns photos and sketches into figurines for their home printers. Meshy says it had more than 12 million registered users and more than 100 million generated models by July 2026.

If you expect finished hero characters straight out of the box, you will be disappointed. If you want one browser tool that goes from generation to texturing to export, it is still the safest default. Tripo competes on speed, and Hunyuan3D is open source for people who want to run generation on their own machines.

What changed between June and September

June 2026: the 3D Agent entered beta. It is a chat interface that brainstorms concept batches and turns text, photos or sketches into models, and it is limited to Pro and higher. July 2026: Auto Split arrived. It cuts models into printable parts and sends them to slicers, but it only works on untextured Meshy 6 drafts. The same month brought native 8K base-color textures for paid subscribers and a large Series B round.

August 2026: a Multiview upgrade and Meshy 7, a new image-to-3D model built to match your reference image more closely. September 2026: Meshy 7.1 added Ultra 4K geometry with raw meshes of up to 80 million triangles, rolling out gradually. On September 19 Meshy updated its Terms of Service, which now list letting multiple users use one account as a restricted use.

Shared seat or your own account

Be honest with yourself about this. Meshy's terms forbid sharing credentials with anyone who is not an authorized user, so a shared plan can conflict with them. The risks are real. Meshy can suspend or close accounts that break its agreement. You share one credit pool with strangers. And the terms tie ownership of paid-plan output to the customer on that plan, which is the account holder and not you.

A shared plan suits personal, non-commercial experiments, where losing access in the middle of a month is an annoyance and not a disaster. Pay full price for your own account, or a team plan with proper seats, if you sell assets, ship a game, do client work or print designs you plan to sell. In those cases you need a license in your own name.

Four checks before you pay

1. Read Meshy's current terms, updated in September 2026, and decide whether you accept the risk that comes with a shared account.

2. Ask the seller how credits are split between users and what happens when the pool runs out before renewal.

3. Confirm which features you actually get. The 3D Agent and Ultra modes are limited to Pro and higher, and Ultra 4K is still rolling out.

4. Download everything you make right away, and keep anything made on a shared account out of commercial work.
