Wavve is a mainstream streaming platform offering Korean dramas, variety shows, movies, and live/on-demand access to KBS, MBC, with ultra HD quality and an ad-free experience.

Korean TV the morning after, plus a few originals worth the fuss

Wavve is a catch-up service for Korean broadcast TV. You open it to watch last night's drama or variety show, or to dig through a big archive of older network hits. It makes a few originals of its own, and some of them are sharp: the social-experiment survival show The Community came back for a second season in September 2026. If you don't follow Korean terrestrial TV, Wavve gives you little reason to subscribe.

It's also quietly trying to become a radio in your pocket. A listen-only mode now covers audiobooks, ASMR, audio dramas and radio, and it's aimed squarely at drivers and commuters.

What changed in 2026

March 2026: Tving and Wavve, its would-be merger partner, started trading originals. Wavve got Tving titles such as Pyramid Game and Dear X, and Tving got The Community and The Blood Game. For Wavve subscribers this is the most useful change of the year.

June 2026: Tving disclosed a breach of its user database. It happened at Tving, not Wavve, but it added another obstacle to a merger that had already stalled. By August 2026, reporting said the deal was unlikely to close this year because KT was still holding out.

September 2026: Wavve released 4K-upscaled versions of classic historical dramas, Dae Jang Geum among them, and expanded its audio lineup ahead of Chuseok.

One date to keep in mind: when regulators approved the merger in June 2025, they required both services to keep their existing plans until the end of 2026. That protection runs out in three months.

Who should share, and who should pay full price

A shared Premium seat suits people who come for one show or a few weeks of catch-up and don't care about watch history, profiles or recommendations. If you would shrug at losing access mid-season, sharing is a reasonable gamble.

Pay for your own account if Wavve is your main source of Korean TV, if you want the Tving bundle or a carrier deal, or if you need to control the login and the billing yourself.

Be clear about what you're buying. Resold seats shared among strangers can conflict with Wavve's own terms of use. The risk falls on you: passwords get changed, sessions get logged out, accounts get suspended, and because you aren't Wavve's customer, Wavve owes you nothing. Read the terms yourself and decide on that basis.

Before you buy

Check that the shows you want actually play where you live. Wavve is built for Korea, and licensing abroad works differently.

Confirm the seat is on the Premium tier, since video quality and the number of simultaneous streams depend on the plan.

Ask the seller what happens if you're kicked out: is there a replacement, a refund, and how quickly?

Compare it with the Tving and Wavve bundle, and check how your renewal works once the plan freeze ends in December 2026.
