Baseball, tvN dramas and Korean variety, in roughly that order

In 2026, people use TVING to get CJ ENM's catalogue: tvN dramas, variety shows and TVING originals, usually on the day they air rather than months later on a global platform. The other big reason is live KBO League baseball. TVING holds the online streaming rights under a deal that covers the 2024 to 2026 seasons. Many fans who would never pay for a drama service pay for this one because of baseball.

It is not the biggest service in Korea. As of April 2026 it ranked third among domestic streaming platforms by monthly users. Netflix still dominates, so TVING is usually a second subscription added to Netflix, not a replacement for it.

What changed recently

March 2026: TVING and Wavve began swapping originals, adding one title each Monday. Pyramid Game and Dear X go to Wavve, and Wavve's The Community and The Blood Game come to TVING. You get more content without a merger.

June 2026: TVING disclosed that a hacker had accessed its user database. It said resident registration numbers and payment details were not exposed.

August 2026: CJ ENM reported that TVING had turned an operating profit. The same month, reports said the TVING–Wavve merger would almost certainly not close in 2026 because KT, a major shareholder, is still holding out.

September 2026: a government investigation found that nearly 40 million accounts had been compromised through a stolen developer access key. Exposed data included names, birth dates, phone numbers and email addresses. TVING promised to quadruple its security spending.

Who a shared plan suits, and who should pay full price

Be clear about what you are buying. Since April 2025, TVING's rules limit an account to the owner and people in the same household. It uses a designated device and IP checks to enforce this. A seat on a shared plan can therefore conflict with TVING's terms. The risk is real: identity verification prompts, loss of access partway through your subscription, or the whole account being restricted. TVING will not help you get it back.

A shared plan suits someone who watches dramas casually, can live with an interruption and doesn't need a personal watch history. If you watch baseball live every night, or you can't tolerate a lockout at a bad moment, pay for your own account. Do the same if you want an account that stays under your own control after this year's breach.

Before you buy

Check that the plan really is Premium, and ask which devices it works on and whether live sports stream on it.

Ask the seller what happens if TVING's household verification blocks you: do you get a replacement or a refund?

If you are buying for baseball, check the calendar first. The rights deal I could confirm ends with the 2026 season.

Never reuse your own passwords, and expect phishing aimed at TVING users after the breach.

How we read these

Every figure here is read from the seller's own page when the site is built, and stamped with the date it was read. Nothing is estimated and nothing is carried over from yesterday. When a price cannot be read, the row says so instead of showing a zero.
