GPT-6 for Everyone? Free Gets Luna, Plus Gets Sol
Every ChatGPT plan now gets GPT-6 and its new interactive answers, but not the same model. Here's what Plus actually buys, and what OpenAI won't say.

Short answer
"GPT-6 for everyone" doesn't mean everyone gets the same GPT-6. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise get GPT-6 Sol. Free and Go get GPT-6 Luna. Both tiers get Intelligent UI, so charts, buttons and small in-chat tools are no longer a reason to pay. What you still pay for is the Sol model and, going by earlier ad reporting, an ad-free chat. If neither matters to you, Free is now a much stronger plan than it was.Source: OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users with Intelligent UI (Business Today) · 2026-10-22; OpenAI's new GPT-6 models for ChatGPT (9to5Mac) · 2026-10-22; OpenAI begins testing ads in ChatGPT for Free and Go users (Search Engine Journal) · 2026-10-22
What actually shipped
According to SiliconANGLE, GPT-6 with Intelligent UI reached Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise on October 7. Enterprise workspaces need an admin to switch it on. Free and Go users followed on October 8. Answers can now mix in graphics, tappable buttons, forms and charts, and ChatGPT decides on its own when to use them. Simple prompts still get plain text, and you can ask for an interactive version at any time. One of OpenAI's demos was a lamb-roast recipe whose ingredient amounts recalculate when you change the number of guests.

Business Today and 9to5Mac report that you can also ask ChatGPT to build a small tool, such as a calculator, a bill splitter or a simple game. Answers can now start streaming while the model is still reasoning. OpenAI claims GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant. Business Today describes Sol and Luna as both "tuned for everyday conversation," and none of the reports I read explain how the two models actually differ.

My take: the headline sells one model and ships two
"GPT-6 for everyone" is clever marketing. Everyone gets the GPT-6 name and the shiny interface, and the actual model depends on whether you pay. That's not a scandal, since every AI company tiers its models. But OpenAI owes users a plain explanation of what Luna gives up compared with Sol, and the coverage doesn't contain one. Until it does, Free users are judging GPT-6 on a model paying customers don't use, and Plus users are paying for a difference nobody has measured for them.
The interface itself is underrated by cynics and overrated by the demo reel. A recipe that rescales for twelve guests is genuinely useful. A chart that appears without being asked for is just more to scroll past. Google already tried this with Gemini's generative interfaces, as SiliconANGLE notes. Intelligent UI is OpenAI catching up, not leaping ahead.
Three questions OpenAI hasn't answered
Weigh these before paying
- Token cost: SiliconANGLE says OpenAI didn't say whether interactive answers use more tokens, though the outlet thinks it likely. If they do, heavy users could hit limits sooner.
- Hallucinated visuals: SiliconANGLE calls it unclear how prone the new visual elements are to hallucinations. A wrong number inside a slick chart looks more trustworthy than the same mistake in plain text.
- Ads blending in: OpenAI announced image-based ads on October 5, the same week GPT-6 launched. SiliconANGLE warns that interactive answers could make ads harder to tell apart from the chatbot's own output.

On ads, OpenAI's position, as BleepingComputer reports it, is that ads will be clearly labeled and separate from the generated image, and won't influence ChatGPT's answers. TechCrunch reports the visual-ad test starts in late October, in the U.S. only, with a first group of advertisers. In February, Search Engine Journal reported that ads were being tested on Free and Go while Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education stayed ad-free. Check OpenAI's current policy before assuming that still holds where you live.

Output may not always be accurate.

This is why that sentence matters here. The same Accuracy section tells users to check Output for accuracy before using or sharing it. Interactive charts and calculators don't change that rule, and they make it easier to forget. A rescaled recipe or a savings calculator is still Output you have to verify. The quote comes from a dated mirror of the December 2024 terms, so check OpenAI's current terms page for the latest wording.

So, should you pay?
- Try Luna on Free firstIntelligent UI is on every tier, so give the free version a real week of your normal tasks before deciding the interface is worth paying for.
- Pay for the model, not the widgetsUpgrade if Luna's answers fall short on your actual work. Don't upgrade because the charts looked good in a demo. Free users get them too.
- Factor in ads honestlyIf you're on Go mainly to save money, remember that the reported ad tests cover Free and Go. Going ad-free has been a real reason to choose Plus.
- Verify anything numericalTreat generated charts and calculators like any other AI answer and check the numbers before you rely on them.
Business and Enterprise admins
SiliconANGLE reports that Enterprise users only get Intelligent UI once a workplace administrator enables it. If teammates can't see it, that setting is the first thing to check.

My verdict: Plus is still worth it if you work in ChatGPT every day and want Sol without ads. It's now hard to justify if you only paid for the newest features, because OpenAI just gave the flashiest one away. The bigger story isn't the buttons. It's that OpenAI is redesigning answers into a more visual product in the same week it's adding image ads. Watch where those two meet.
