What it is

Poe is an AI chatbot aggregation platform that supports access to a variety of mainstream AI chatbots, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DALL-E 3, Stable Diffusion, Llama, and custom bots created by users.

Poe is not where you go for the best version of any single AI. It's where you go when you don't want to pick one. People use it to put the same prompt to GPT, Claude and Gemini models side by side, to reach image and video generators without opening another account, and to run custom bots that someone else has already tuned. Group chats that mix several people and several models in one thread made it a small team tool too. The trade-off is that everything runs on a points meter, so heavy use of top models drains your allowance much faster than casual chatting does.

What changed: the meter shrank, quietly

March 2026: the free tier's daily points allowance was cut by roughly nine-tenths. Independent trackers found no changelog entry or help-centre notice about it. The same month, Poe updated its Terms of Service, which now describe an official shared subscription for family, friends or teams.

April 2026: Quora cut staff and said Poe now has to stand on its own financially. That context matters for everything that follows.

July 2026: trackers reported that the headline Premium plan's monthly points allowance had dropped by about a third while its listed price stayed the same. The other tiers were unchanged. The exact date of the change is unclear.

The pattern is clear: Poe raises what you pay per point by shrinking the allowance, not by changing the sticker price.

Shared plan or full price? Be honest about your usage

A shared plan suits someone who dips in a few times a week to compare answers or try a new model, and who can live with a smaller share of a meter that Poe keeps shrinking.

Pay full price if Poe is part of your work, if you run long-context or video jobs, or if you need private chat history. There's also the rules. Poe offers its own sharing feature, where a subscriber invites registered account holders, but a resold seat on someone else's account may fall outside those terms. Poe says it can suspend or terminate accounts that breach its terms. If that happens, the risk is losing access in the middle of a billing period, along with your bots and history. Read the terms yourself and stay within them.

Before you buy

Check how many points the models you actually use cost per message, and whether your share of the allowance covers a normal week for you.

Ask whether you get your own Poe account through Poe's official sharing feature or a shared login. Only the first keeps your chats private and clearly within Poe's terms.

Find out what the seller does if Poe shrinks allowances again or suspends the account: refund, replacement or nothing.

Compare it with a direct subscription to the one model you use most. If you only ever use one, Poe's main advantage is gone.
